Accessiblity

The Mid West Development Commission is committed to making our website as accessible as possible. This means providing access to:

  • people with disabilities;

  • people using mobile devices;

  • those with slower internet connections; and

  • rural and regional users.

We are working towards improving our compliance with the standards set by Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA level. With the relaunch of our website in 2015 we have improved accessibility by:

  • ensuring images and tables are displayed correctly

  • ensuring our menu is accessible via touch screens

  • adding responsive design for mobile devices

  • providing Alternative styles and colour contrast

  • improving template layouts

  • converting publications to HTML content where possible

  • increasing training and awareness for staff

  • improving information architecture

  • using plain language.

You can send us feedback on the accessibility of this site to info@mwdc.wa.gov.au

In line with standard practice all document attachments will open into a new window.

Documents provided on this website can also be provided in other formats upon request. Contact us to request alternate document formats.

Hyperlinks

To assist with scanning content or users of assistive technologies, where ever possible hyperlinks allow the link text to be meaningful when read out of context.

The following best practice approach is taken for linking within our site:

  • All links to pages within the site where the menu is still available will open within the same window.

  • All links to attachments or external sites will open into a new window.

This approach allows users to set their browser options to open in new tab if this is preferred to opening in a new window.
